Soul Connection

Blog

Girls' Brigade Australia has always been committed to seeing the lives of everyday girls transformed. Over the past 125 years, we have helped girls and leaders to seek, serve and follow Christ. This blog is just a small glimpse of the connections we hope to have with our leaders nationwide.

Jesus the Good Shepherd

John 10: 14-15 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.

John 10: 27 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

Jesus wants us to know his love – through his voice he declares his love and Jesus the good shepherd calls out his sheep by name.  Its not just that God loved the world but that God loves you and me so whether you are a thinker or a feeler or a thinking feeler(!), an introvert or an extrovert; a coordinated or clumsy person; eloquent or brash; spontaneous or free spirited; anxious or calm; addicted or free; whatever kind of person you are, the good shepherd wants His voice to be the voice that you know.

God is not neutral about you.  There are lots of people in our lives that we are neutral about. There is no antagonism, but there is no love either.  – They’re called acquaintances!

God doesn’t want us to be an acquaintance of his.  He wants a relationship with us. Just turning up to church some Sundays for  $3 of God is not what a relationship is about.

God loves you, fundamentally because he made you.   Even us humans are attached to what we make.  Think about something you made – good or bad – you loved it because you made it………..

A few years ago when the kids were little I made a table by myself from Ikea !  I put it together by myself – it took ages and at the end I had 4 pieces left over which I still have somewhere.  I loved that table and was so proud of it, but eventually that table fell apart but until it did my family and kids enjoyed the table for 3 weeks – but I loved the table because I made it.

How much does God love you…………  so much that he sent his son to die on a cross for you – that is what God looks like – He died on a cross to show us the depths of his sacrificial grace-filled love to give us all His grace-filled fresh start and the hope of a resurrected life.

Jesus said 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.

How awesome is it that we are already following him and have the privilege of being examples of what His sacrificial grace-filled love for the girls on women we know.
