FONO 2024 FAQ
Fonomarae (also known as Fono) is a residential camp for Girls’ Brigade Australia Pioneers and young leaders held biannually.
What is the purpose of Fono?
- to deepen your relationship with God
- to meet other Girls’ Brigade members from around Australia
- to have a voice on the strategic plan for Girls’ Brigade Australia
- to have opportunities to develop leadership skills and
- enjoy new experiences

WHO CAN COME?
Participants are Pioneers in 2024 (14-21 years old)
Young Leaders, aged 18-21, may choose to be participants or take on a Leadership role
Leaders are aged 18 plus.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
$1177. Paid in full by 22nd December 2023
Transport to Melbourne airport is not included (see below)

Day trip to Melbourne
Craft
Music
Bushwalking
Beach sessions
Getting deeper into the Bible
Forming new friendships
Exploring and serving the local community.
WHAT ARE THE ELECTIVES?
Electives are to be announced and will be hosted at the campsite. We welcome input from participants as to the type of electives they would like to choose from. Some from past Fono’s include high energy activities, through to craft, to chill and creative activities. All suggestions considered, however not guaranteed.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Registrations are in for Fono 24! If this sounds like something your keen to do but missed out on registering, don’t stress, contact us us via email – [email protected] Final applications are due by the end of Friday December 1, 2023.
HOW DO WE PAY?
Payment details will be on the application form.
CAN I PAY IN INSTALMENTS?
Yes! We suggest you pay in installments of $200 a month.
WHO IS ORGANISING FLIGHTS?
Girls’ Brigade Australia is organising flights to and from major cities for State Contingent groups. These flights will have leaders for supervision purposes. Cost of flights will be advised after registrations are finalised.
CAN I ORGANISE MY OWN FLIGHTS?
Yes – please ensure you specify this when you register.
HOW DO TRANSFERS TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT WORK?
Transfers to and from Melbourne airport are included in the camp registration fee for anyone flying to camp. It is participant’s responsibility to travel to and from the airport in their state.
