Pioneer Leadership Training (PLT)

Pioneers are offered the opportunity to participate in the Pioneer Leadership Training Program..

Girls’ have the opportunity to grow their leadership skills assisting and being mentored by trained, experienced Leaders.

There are six (6) courses that are offered at this level

Foundations

This module aims to give girls a strong foundation in Girls’ Brigade as an organisation and the role they have within it. In this module, girls will develop an understanding of the Core Values and Mission of GB while practising leadership skills in a GB context.

Events

This module aims to develop girls’ ability to organise and collaborate with others as they plan and coordinate either a short or overnight event.

Core skills covered are :

Collaborate with others to coordinate a short event
Collaborate with others to coordinate an overnight event
Practise using leadership skills while leading a group to complete a task

Lead

This module aims to develop girls’ awareness of their own strengths and abilities – both in a personal and leadership context.

Core skills covered are:

Identify skills and attitudes needed to demonstrate servant leadership
Identify personal giftings and skills and reflect on how these can be useful in the service of others
Participate in discipleship program using an established or church community resources
Reflect on faith journey

Community

This module aims to provide opportunities for girls to interact meaningfully with their community and reflect on their own experiences. From this be able to make links with their leadership, GB and their faith.

Core skills covered are:

Identify skills and attitudes needed to demonstrate servant leadership
Identify personal giftings and skills. Reflect on how these can be used in the service of others
Encourage empathy and understanding of the needs of others. Reflect on personal responsibility within the community

Team

This module aims to explore what it means to work as part of team. To also consider how to lead and contribute meaningfully to both informal and formal team meetings

Core skills covered:

Reflect on personal responsibility within the community
Identify skills and attributes needed to demonstrate servant leadership and communicate the Mission, Vision, and Values of GB
Practise using leadership skills while leading a group to complete a task
Investigate dynamics of different groups

Deep

This module aims to introduce girls to different ways to worship and provide space for deeper exploration of their own worship and faith
