Chaplain’s Chat

Girls' Brigade Australia As part of my current devotions I’m reading E100 Bible (Journey through the Bible in 100 readings) collated by Whitney Kuniholm.

In his introduction about Abraham, Kuniholm writes (Italics mine): There’s one more theme you’ll want to keep an eye on in these readings: faith. That’s the main thing Abraham got right. He didn’t know why God had picked him, he didn’t know where God was sending him, and he certainly didn’t know what God’s plan was. All he knew was that God said. ‘Leave home’ and so he did. Trusting God with your life is what faith is all about. In the New Testament, the apostle Paul explains that Abraham’s example pointed to a bigger step of faith – believing in Jesus as Saviour and Lord (Romans 4:16-26). Have you taken that step of faith yet?

Read more about Abraham in Genesis 12. Definitely not a perfect person, yet a key player in God’s plan.

There’s nothing I can add to this thought for the week, so I invite you, along with me, to contemplate this with God.

Many Blessings.

Cheryl

GBI Day of Prayer – 10th June is around the corner – GO GREEN! I pray we are all engaged with our “Go Green“ resource. We are encouraged to fundraise towards our GiveAGirlAHope Fund, but the ultimate goal is to play our part in being responsible stewards of God’s Creation. Lets get walking/running and keep God’s temple healthy – we are celebrating 131 years, so a step/mile for each year.
The Resource includes suggested ideas for our prayers on 10th June or any date that we choose close to the 10th. Send in your prayer requets by 17th May 2024. Please send a report on your activities for the day with pictures for us to share. Check out other resources here.

ICGB 2026 – Its happening! We have received an offer to host an in-person ICGB 2026, from GB Cook Islands. However, due to the cost of the venues, they will only be able to host between February and April 2026 as this is their off-season period, otherwise it will be too expensive to host and unaffordable for delegates. They have proposed 7th to 14th March 2026, mindful of the fact that April is Easter. They have already started the groundwork and we will be sharing details soon in terms of registration and timelines. Lets begin praying together with our Sisters as they take on this mammoth task and also for resources. Thank you GB Cook Islands for taking this on.

Delegation of Hope – I thank you for prayers for our Delegation of Hope who represented us well at CSW68. It was an uplifting experience for the group and we pray that the stories we shared will have a lasting impact and help grow GB. Also praying that the relationships built will enrich our work in being advocates for girls and young women. The Team will be running a webinar and sharing their presentation and their experience at CSW68 during this 2nd quarter. More details and the registration link will be provided via our social media platforms. Please watch the space!
